A change in the season calls for a wardrobe revamp and it brings in a whole lot of fashion trends that are poised to take over this summer. Our basic crop tops and denim shorts are simply not making the cut anymore. Read on to find out our favourite summer trends this year and how to weave them into your everyday style.

Minis

Daring, chic and sometimes bold, mini dresses are making a huge comeback this summer. Sundresses are easy to throw on and they are the absolute go-to in the warm weather.

Made for everyday wear, Song of Style’s Gwyneth mini dress is patterned with a muted yellow and pink gingham checks.

Amanda Uprichard’s Sicily dress with puffy sleeves and fun, summery watercolour prints is a playful and girly number.

Black Coral’s Dianthus lace mini dress in powdered blue is trimmed with a crochet lace edging throughout, and a plunging V neck and back. Feminine and bohemian, this summer dress is a must-have for your next vacation.

Cut-outs

The cut-out trend is definitely the biggest fashion emergence this summer. Summerdown’s Veronica cut-out bodysuit has an asymmetrical necklace with a cut-out at the waist that enhances your curves and adds a sexy and fun flair to an otherwise sleek bodysuit.

The cut-out dress trend is a big hit this summer. A handful of brands have come out with cut-out bodycon dresses of figure-hugging fit. LIKELY’s one-shoulder Fina Midi dress with a mermaid cut is a spiced up version of your typical LBD.

A maxi dress option would be One Mile’s Ava dress which is made with 88% traceable viscose. The crossover panel detail at the waist with cut-outs on both sides frames your body in the most flattering way possible.

The sophisticated cut-out slit midi dress in from Bardot is perfect for date night or drinks with friends.

Open button up shirt

Seen on supermodels Kendall Jenner, Rosie Huntington and more, an open button up white shirt is a staple this summer. It makes a great layering and transition piece. Style the Uncle Studio’s oxford shirt with any of your basic white t-shirt, sundresses, shorts or swimsuits for a laid-back and edgy look.

Pops of green

Accessorise with a pop of colour to jazz up your outfit. If you are looking to invest in a bag this summer, look no further than the ones that Bottega Veneta has released recently. Bottega’s Jodie with the signature intrecciato weave and a large knot on the handle adds a whimsical touch to any outfit.

Bottega’s Beak small leather shoulder bag is a classic and simple purse that will complement your everyday style.

Another way of incorporating colours into your outfit is by adding statement-making shoes such as the Bottega Veneta’s dark green slip on sandals and Valentino Garavani’s green Roman Stud flat pumps.

Heeled flip flops

Classic and comfortable, flip flops are everything the go-to summer casual shoes should be. This summer trend gives you a lift (literally), and elevates your look. The Alaia’s platform flip flops with thick woven straps are versatile and ideal for a day at the beach.

The luxe-looking Dear Frances’ wrap sandals add a sophisticated and modern touch to any outfit.

The Prada flip flops in pastel green would make a great investment this summer. They go with every neutral piece in your wardrobe.
