Sustainable Athleisure Brands In Asia You Need To Know
If you must find a reason to (look like you have) hit the gym, this could be it.
These activewear brands in Asia are proof that we can make sustainable fashion choices without compromising on style.
Shaza by Shalini
Just launched in April 2020, this new kid on the sustainable fashion block is making major waves. What makes this Thai homegrown brand different is the materials—every piece in the brand’s activewear collections is made of sustainable techno-fabric.
The brand has partnered up with Italian textile company Carvico, who uses regenerated nylon Econyl sourced from ocean and landfill waste, and American textile company Repreve, who recycles plastic bottles from natural and urban landscapes and landfills to produce 100% eco-friendly activewear. The result? Chic sports bras and pants that are breathable, soft on the skin and UV protective.

Flexi Lexi
Bangkok-based activewear brand Flexi Lexi started incorporating plastic-free fabric in all of its collections in 2019, and never looked back ever since. Stylish and comfortable to wear, each outfit is made from approximately 35 post-consumer plastic bottles, which are then turned into Repreve yarn.
The brand’s latest collection is “Into the Jungle”, which features fun, tropical designs like “Hakuna Papaya”, “You’re the Zest” and “Queen of Peacock”—each comes in 4-way stretch and quick dry leggings and crop tops packaged in eco-friendly canvas zipper bag.

Girlfriend Collective
An ethical and sustainable brand from head to toe, Girlfriend Collective considers the environment in every step of its manufacturing process. Using only used water bottles recycled from a processing centre monitored by the Taiwanese government, the brand works closely with ECONYL to turn the waste into LITE, a stretchy, lightweight fabric that is used in its LITE leggings.
That’s not all, the brand also produces tees and tanks made of 100% cupro, a delicate fibre from waste the cotton industry leaves behind. With a range of fun and flattering silhouettes and many sizes available, Girlfriend Collective has got you covered with outfits that will make you look good and feel great when you get your sweat on.
