11 Salons and Spas to Book in Central
Every day is spa day if you know where to look!
There’s something so restorative about a trip to the salon or spa. Whether it’s the bouncy lightness after a fresh haircut, the put-together look after an eyebrow shaping, or the bright post-facial glow, there’s no doubt that a salon to your favorite stylist or therapist can give you a massive boost. But with so many options in Hong Kong, how’s a girl to choose where to head for some quality pampering? We’ve done the hard work of trialing and testing salons and spas in Hong Kong and have rounded up our top picks—many of them are founded by pioneering female entrepreneurs that are forcing us to rethink how we approach beauty and relaxation.
Xtreme Lashes
Founder Jo Mouselli drew on her scientific qualifications to create Xtreme Brows and the brand’s unique products, tools, and training in Texas, USA. Now, the brand has over 20,000 trained stylists in 50 countries around the world—including right here in Hong Kong. The main offering here is the Xtreme Lashes Eyelash Extensions, which offers a luxuriant, natural look with individual synthetic lashes. There are 950 styles available, and your stylist will help you find one that’s most suitable for you. Ask for Nisha, an experienced lash therapist that’s handy with laminations, tints, and lash lifts.

Princess Brows
Founded by semi-permanent makeup artist Rebecca Chung, Princess Brows is a multifaceted salon whose mission is to give its customers a confidence boost. There is a wealth of treatments on offer, from HIFU and facials to laser hair removal and EmSculpt body sculpting, but the core offering is Rebecca’s semi-permanent makeup. Her pioneering products, tools, and application techniques can be used to cover undereye circles and outline pouty lips, but they can also be used for post-Mastectomy areola reconstruction or scar coverage. One of her most popular treatments, the patented G.E.L Lashes service, gives you up to three months of noticeably long, curly, tinted lashes—and you can even choose how dramatic a look you want. Ask for Sam or Jackal when booking.

Their proprietary OMG treatments draw on natural Japanese ingredients like marine algae and Argan stem cells—as well as infusions of keratin and collagen—to detoxify and replenish locks so that they’re at their bounciest, shiniest best. Owner Marvin Lin is a visionary stylist trained in bioscience and clocked nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry before deciding to create truly innovative treatments that rebuild hair from the inside out, starting with scalp health. The Skin Gym
A small but mighty spa perched above Wyndham Street, The Skin Gym features just three treatment rooms rendered in minimalist style with a burst of Parisian chic. The focus here is on skin, so you’ll find facials by Elemis, Ultraceuticals, Environ, and O Cosmedics on offer, but the real highlights are The Skin Gym’s own-brand treatments—which include bespoke prescription facials and eye rituals—and the LED treatments. All therapists here are highly qualified, but for extra attention, ask for Clara, the resident skin guru and manager. Skin’s not the only thing this spa will take care of, though. You can treat yourself to HIFU, microneedling, demaplaning, waxing, Keratin lash lifts, or laser hair removal, too. In need of some R’n’R? Book a massage or a session in the infrared sauna.

Girl boss Stephanie Shek took to Instagram to turn her boutique nail salon into a true beauty powerhouse. Thanks to an immaculate Instagram feed showcasing EightyEight’s exquisite nail art, the salon boasts over 45,000 Instagram followers—and a loyal offline fan base amongst Hong Kong’s fashionistas. A salon for the modern age, customers can book an appointment through WhatsApp (though phone bookings are acceptable, too), and clients can send inspo pics in advance so artists can harness their creativity in advance. Because they use freehand painting with tiny brushes, your imagination is the limit for your nail art, so it’s a case of anything goes.
